In light of the recent terrorist attacks in the United States, it is time that people wake up and face the obvious truth. Islam DOES NOT HAVE A VIOLENCE PROBLEM–they have a very real, religiously-motivated terrorism problem.

Let me repeat that again: Muslims are much less likely to kill you out of revenge, spite, for money, or because they hear voices in their heads. Yet, at the same time, Muslims are much more likely to want to blow you up to make Allah happy.

The numbers don’t lie. When we include terrorism into the homicide statistics, a Muslim is still many times less likely to kill someone. Why? I posit it is religion, but first, let’s dig into the stats:

M Steven Fish, the author of Are Muslims Distinctive: A Look at the Evidence, writes:

What about violent crime? Here Muslims are way behind the rest of us—and in a good way. Homicide rates in Muslim-majority countries average about two murders per annum per 100,000 people. In non-Muslim countries, the average rate is about 8 per 100,000.

By way of comparison, the above are US homicide rates. That means a Muslim, even in a poor country, is about as likely to murder someone as a white woman in the United States is.

Anecdotal evidence confirms this. A friend I had in college spent significant time in Cairo back in 2004. When there, he broke his arm. He had to go to a hospital downtown. Now, if you go to a hospital in the inner-city in the United States, say Washington DC, you are going to be running into people with gun shot, stabbing, and rape related wounds simply because statistically Washington has over 1200 violent crimes a year. Yet in Cairo, none of this was to be seen. You would figure Cairo is a very safe city, at least when compared to an American one.

Yet, even with this lower homicide rate Mr. Fish concedes:

…indeed, global terrorism today is disproportionately an Islamist phenomenon…

But why? If they are a less violent people, why are they more likely to commit violence in a showy, “terrory,” sort of way?

Mr. Fish discounts one theory, but then gives another:

Sacred texts don’t explain anything either. The Quran staunchly prohibits murder. But the Bible and the foundational texts of every other major religion do as well.

But one possible explanation arises from the data: Greater socioeconomic inequality is correlated with higher homicide rates, and Muslim societies have comparatively low levels of inequality.

First, let’s dispel the myth economic inequality is the motivator. The Muslim world has nations that have economic inequality similar to that of the United States, such as Morocco and Tunisia. Yet the homicide rates in Morocco and Tunisia, as we can see in the above graph, are typical of the rest of the Muslim world (universally low). And, may I add, they seem to have less terrorists per capita that Saudia Arabia or Syria. Not coincidentally, Morocco and Tunisia are secular states with not-as-extreme Muslims, akin to Italy having Christians that are not as extreme as American, “there ain’t no dinosaurs” sort-of-Christians. So, economics is obviously not the determining factor. Religious-seriousness is.

How could religion be a motivator? After all, the Quran says in Surah 17:33, “And do not take any human being’s life – that God willed to be sacred – other than in [the pursuit of] justice.” Doesn’t the Quran, like all religions, ban murder? I mean, we just read a Surah that said so!

READ CLOSER!

And do not take any human being’s life – that God willed to be sacred – other than in [the pursuit of] justice (17:33).

do not kill a soul that God has made sacrosanct, save lawfully (6:151).

whoso kills a soul, unless it be for murder or for wreaking corruption in the land, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind (5:53).

And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief or unrest] is worse than killingbut if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more Fitnah [disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah] and worship is for Allah alone. But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun(the polytheists, and wrong-doers (2:191-193).

Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah (4:76).

The obvious, Quranic, teaching in the above is that murder is wrong UNLESS the person you are killing is a murderer or a disturber of social order. Other Surahs, like 2:191, make clear that unbelief is actually worse than murder, so obviously killing infidels (unbelievers) would fall under one of the excusable criteria for murdering other people, as “those who believe fight for Allah.”

Granted, Surah 2:256 states, “There shall be no compulsion in religion.” However, Muslims believe in the “doctrine of abrogation,” which means (in short) that the Quran often contradicts itself in that Allah gave different rulings for different times. The doctrine of abrogation works like this: Muslims interpret the “no compulsion” passage as pertaining to when Muhammad was in Medina and making overtures to Christians and Jews in order to live peaceably with them. By the time he took Mecca, he had control over much of the Arabian peninsula. Now, the Christians and Jews were obstinate outsiders that had to be subjugated. So, Allah sent new revelation that abrogated the previous command to live peaceably and replaced it with commands to kill the infidel (such as Surah 9:5).

Now, not every Muslim may interpret the Quran this way. But, the stats don’t lie–a lot do.

A Pew poll found that over 40 percent of Muslims polled worldwide had a favorable view of Al Qaeda, with almost 50 percent having a favorable view of the woman-hating, homosexual executing, Taliban.

Another Pew Poll recently found that in many countries at least 10 percent of Muslims approved of ISIS.

Yet, the United States is on pace to give one million (!) green cards within eight years to Muslims by the time President Obama leaves office. This means, using simple math, that the United States will knowingly admit and authorize the permanent residency of roughly 500,000 people and their children who sympathize with the Taliban, a rogue government that the United States is presently at war with. Of those 500,000, roughly 400,000 of them sympathize with Al Qaeda (the terrorist organization that killed 3,000 Americans on September 11th) and about 100,000 sympathize with ISIS.

I honestly wonder if we fought the Nazis and Japanese all over again, that we would be bringing in Japanese, Italian, and German refugees (many of which that would publicly admit that they have sympathy for the enemies of the United States.)

It’s not like the whole world has lost its commonsense. Many Muslims recognize this dangerous tendency within Islam and use the power of the state to squash it.  In fact, the Muslim propensity to be super-serious about Islam is why westernized Muslim countries, like Turkey and Morocco, make public displays of Islam in dress and the imposition of Shariah law illegal. Obviously, these westernized Muslim countries know something that their western liberal counterparts do not.

Yet, it should also be said, these same Muslim immigrants from countries that sympathize with America’s enemies are still much less likely to kill you. After all, their religion teaches that murder is wrong and they obviously take their religion much more seriously than the average nominal Christian does. Heck, Western women have abandoned the head-covering during an hour on Sunday morning, simply because it messes up their hair! To the contrary, Muslim women universally prefer some sort of hijab (if not an entire burka.)   So, as long as a Muslim does not feel that his or her religion is at risk, he or she is no threat. Muslims, quite simply, are more overtly religious and their religion demands more outward conformity so as not to kill people (other than for legitimate reasons such as Jihad).

But why? Why this strange dichotomy?

Let me cut to the chase. Muslims are like the rest of us. We all have a sin problem. The difference is how each religion teaches how we deal with sin.

In Buddhism, you can pay for good Karma by making a donation to a monk or to a temple.

In Catholicism, you can go to confession and after due penance the priest assures you of your forgiveness.

In Protestantism, you can simply say, “I’m sorry God,” and you can go back to what you were doing before.

In Atheism, you can simply pretend sin doesn’t exist and drink/drug away your guilt.

But what do you do in Islam? Islam requires that their adherents go through its five pillars:

2000px-five_pillars_of_islam-svg

So, pretend you are one of these 20-something males dabbling in drugs, booze, and gay sex like the slew of the recent terrorists turned out to be doing*. You declare Muhammad is the only prophet and Allah is the only God. Check, you got that right. You do the obligatory prayers…most of the time. Sometimes you are driving to work and you missed it. Or you are at a whore house and ignoring it. No one knows, right? Oh oh, Allah knows. Then there is almsgiving. You give two percent of your income to the mosque. That’s a lot, right? Oh oh, you had impure thoughts about another man. You drank alcohol at a gay club. Is two percent enough under these circumstances? Then there is fasting during Ramadan…but, you drank booze with a hooker during Ramadan! And for Muhammad’s sake, you haven’t been to Mecca on hajj yet.

Dude, you’re in big trouble with Allah!

Yet, in a Hadith (an authoritative oral tradition equal to the Quran) states, “All the sins of a Shahid (martyr) are forgiven except debt.” Being that Islam bans usury, this expiation of sin is something very accessible to the average, Muslim deviant. Fall flat on your face doing the five pillars? Well, martyrdom is for you! And guess what, while the majority of Muslims are not so afraid for their souls that they will join you, a solid fifty percent totally sympathize with you and can see themselves in your shoes.

So, as long as Muslims are Muslim, we will have Jihad and its consequent terrorism. They have no other means to effectively absolve sins without playing Russian Roulette with their souls, hoping that when they die Allah might not be as tough of a judge as he seems to be.

But, we all know better. Deut 18:13 states, “You must be blameless before the Lord your God.”

A perfect God demands perfection. An imperfect Allah may let you slide. A Muslim deviant, with any insight into the nature of the true God, knows that God is perfect and demands perfection. But, he does not have perfection of his own to offer. Hence, Jihad is the only rational option one has left if one is to accept the tenets of Islam is true.

So, my Western readers, let’s stop debating this whole Islamic immigration thing as if Muslims are inherently dangerous. They’re pushy with social issues and they blow things up in spectacular fashion every once in a while, but they are not dangerous when compared to the rest of us.

The question really should be as follows: do you want to knowingly let in a million people where half of them support religious-motivated murder? I’ll let you decide.
