In this series we will be giving 25 reasons why the Jehovah’s Witnesses have their Christology and Trinitarian theology wrong. We will make our case right from the Scriptures:
- God alone is savior. Jesus Christ is the savior. Therefore, Christ is Jehovah.
I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me (Is 43:11).
[F]or today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11).
He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins (Acts 5:31).
From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus (Acts 13:33).
…revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Tim 1:10).
I spoke to JWs before. Their Bible has an eerie way of sidestepping much scriptural debate because it renders a lot of the critical verses differently. I’m going to check out their last 2 or 3 translations (whatever I can find from http://www.jw.org) and see how their bibles render these verses you just quoted. will be a fun exercise.
True, this is why I like to quote the Kingdom Interlinnear, as I can show them how the Greek differs from their renderings.
I actually bought a 2nd hand copy of that interlinear somewhere 2015/2016 precisely for this task. handy to have that when going face to face with a JW.
pretty neat 🙂
This is GREAT! I was a JW growing up, because I had to be. But later on I knew that the scriptures in the NWT (New world translation), they twist certain words or phrases to Only fit into their doctrine. Titus 2 13 is the prime example!
